FITCHBURG - Rollstone Studios, 633 Main Street Fitchburg will have plenty of sparkle and shine on Thursday, April 2 from 4 to 8 pm with a full roster of exhibitions and events. The premiere exhibition is a group show: “All That Glitters: New Jewelry and Adornments,” with more than 100 original pieces using precious stones and metal, lampwork glass, pearls, textiles, pen parts and other materials. Pieces include necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings and other “adornments” made by studio artists and area jewelry artisans.
Other current Rollstone exhibitions include: award-winning painter Victor Dupuis’s “Cloud Series,” small celestial oil paintings and the North Central Charter Essential School Student Art Exhibit. Music will be provided by Cornerstone Performing Group.
“After this very long winter, I thought “All That Glitters” would be an attractive and eye-catching exhibition for our visitors,” explains Exhibition Coordinator Sally Cragin who is also contributing work. “We asked all of our nearly three dozen artists if they would like to create something special. Many of them said yes and will be submitting multiple pieces so visitors can see a spectrum of work by the same artist.
“Some work is pure whimsy, like Fitchburg’s Dianne Cintron’s soap jewelry. Other jewelry uses hand-made materials, such as Ema Kilroy of Lunenburg who creates original fused glass and beads. Julia Van Dinter works in precious stones, metals and unusual finishes. Sally Cragin of Fitchburg works in found objects, felt, metal shavings, textiles and precious stones.
