First Thursdays

First Thursday takes place on the first Thursday of each month, throughout downtown Fitchburg. Dedicated to cultural events and festivities, events takes place from 4:00-8:00 pm and focus on providing downtown visitors the chance to stroll through the unique shops and galleries in downtown, while enjoying in-store entertainment and special events. The Mayor’s Office provides a special event map & schedule for the evening.

First Thursday, February 4, Rollstone Studios presents a free artist demonstration from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Come in and meet “The Crazy Dog Lady”, Janice Queijo talk about her quilting art. Jan creates custom pet portraits as fabric quilts and has lots of tips, tricks and fun information about quilting. Jan exhibits extensively and has been featured in several publications including the Boston Globe. Meet Jan and other Resident Artists at Rollstone Studios for First Thursday. FREE 5 – 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 7, Central Mass. Womens Caucus for the Arts. Meeting, 12-1; Round Robin, 1:30-3:30

Feb. 16, 17, 18: School vacation Workshop on Book Printmaking. Open to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Limited spaces. Instructor: Leslie MacPhail. Call (978) 348-2781

Sunday, March 21, Reception for “1984” — FREE. 4 pm
Rollstone Studios regularly offers extended hours when Fitchburg’s own Stratton Players perform. To purchase tickets to the show ($12) call 978-345-6066 or visit strattonplayers.com. The reception is FREE and follows the performance.

First Thursday, April 1, FREE. JEWELRY DEMO NIGHT. Watch some of our jewelry artists work at their craft and learn a few techniques. 5- 7:30 p.m.

First Thursday, October 7 FREE. Opening of Exhibit on NatureWorks. 5 – 7:30 p.m. Light Refreshments

First Thursday, November 4 FREE. OPEN STUDIOS from 4-7:30. Meet the Rollstone Resident Artists and watch demonstrations of their art. Light refreshments.

First Thursday, December 2 ORNAMENT and CARD-MAKING WORKSHOP. $5 charge for materials. 5 – 7:30 p.m.
